Size Guide

One entry for each of the five pieces we make, and nothing for anything we do not. Every design is cut and sized unisex, so there is no separate men's or women's chart to reconcile.

Measurements

Garment measurements

There are 5 pieces in the line, so there are 5 entries below and no others. Where we have published measurements you get a table. Where a piece is made in one size, or is sized but has no measurements we can attribute to a real spec sheet, it says exactly that instead of showing you a number we invented.

All measurements are of the garment laid flat, not of your body. A chest figure is measured flat across the garment, so double it to compare against a body circumference.

Every measurement carries a normal manufacturing tolerance of about half an inch either way. That is standard for cut-and-sew apparel and is not a defect.

Units

Embroidered Sweatshirt

Cut and sized unisex, and cut roomy on purpose.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL

We have not published measurements for the sweatshirt yet. The blank it is made on is still being confirmed, and we would rather show you nothing than a number we cannot stand behind.

Tell us the size you wear in a brand you already own and we will give you a straight recommendation before you order.

Embroidered T-Shirt

Standard unisex jersey cut, retail fit, side-seamed. Not boxy, not slim.

Garment laid flat, in inches. Measurements taken from BELLA+CANVAS Measurement Specification Report, style 3001, the published spec for the BELLA+CANVAS 3001 Unisex Jersey Tee blank.

These are the published figures from the mill for that blank, which we ran on our earlier printed line. We have not yet reconfirmed it for the embroidered pieces, so treat this table as a close guide rather than the last word. • Sleeve length: not published. Not published on the BELLA+CANVAS spec report for style 3001. We would rather leave it blank than invent it. Ask us and we will measure a real garment for you.

Embroidered Hat

Made in one size.

Size: One Size

The hat is made in one size, so there is no size to choose and none to get wrong. If you want its exact dimensions before ordering, ask us and we will put a tape on one.

Embroidered Beanie

Made in one size.

Size: One Size

The beanie is made in one size, so there is no size to choose and none to get wrong. If you want its exact dimensions before ordering, ask us and we will put a tape on one.

Embroidered Socks

Two sizes rather than six. Not one size.

Sizes: S/M, L/XL

The socks come in two sizes, S/M and L/XL. We have not published the shoe size each one covers yet, because the blank is still being confirmed and a shoe range we cannot source is worse than none.

Method

How to measure

The most reliable thing you can do is measure a garment you already own and compare it to the tables above. Second most reliable is measuring yourself. Guessing from a letter is a distant third.

What you need
A soft tape measure and a flat surface. If all you have is a rigid tape, lay a length of string along the garment, mark it, then measure the string.
Chest
Lay the garment flat, smooth out the wrinkles, and measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam. That flat number is what the chart lists. To compare against your own body, measure around the fullest part of your chest and halve it.
Body length
From the highest point of the shoulder seam, straight down the front of the garment, to the bottom hem. Abbreviated HPS on spec sheets.
The reliable method
Take a garment you already own and reach for, lay it flat, measure it, and match those numbers against the chart. Comparing to something real beats guessing from a letter every time.

Fit

Choosing your size

Everything here is cut unisex, which runs straighter and roomier through the body than women's-cut apparel. That is the single fact that resolves most sizing questions we get.

  • Everything is cut unisex. There is no separate men's or women's chart to reconcile, and the artwork is not gendered in any direction.
  • Coming from women's sizing? Unisex runs straighter and roomier through the body. Sizing down one from your usual women's size gets you closer to a fitted look.
  • Between sizes on the sweatshirt? It is cut roomy on purpose. Size down for a closer fit, stay true to size for the relaxed cut it was designed as.
  • Layering under the sweatshirt? Stay true to size. The room is already built in.
  • The hat and the beanie are one size. There is nothing to choose and nothing to get wrong.
  • The socks come in two sizes, S/M and L/XL, rather than a full apparel run.
  • Tolerance. Every measurement carries a normal manufacturing tolerance of about half an inch either way. That is standard for cut-and-sew apparel and is not a defect.
  • Every piece is personalized, so it is stitched with your number before it ships. Getting the size right the first time matters more here than on a shelf garment. We would much rather answer a fit question than start an exchange, so ask before you order.

Sourcing

Where these numbers come from

Every number on this page is transcribed from the manufacturer's published measurement specification report for the named blank. Nothing here is estimated. Where a mill does not publish a point of measurement, or where we have not confirmed which blank a piece is made on, we leave it out and say so rather than filling the gap with a plausible guess.

The one table above is taken from the published measurement specification report for BELLA+CANVAS 3001 Unisex Jersey Tee. It links directly to the document it was transcribed from, so you can check our arithmetic against the mill.

Embroidered Sweatshirt and Embroidered Socks have no numbers here yet. We are still confirming which blank each one is made on, and until that is settled there is no measurement we could publish that would be ours to stand behind. Every piece is embroidered to order, so a size picked against a number we guessed at is not something either of us can undo cheaply. We would rather answer your fit question by email.

Our blanks are sourced through our own production operation in Long Island, New York rather than a third-party print-on-demand catalog, which is why we can name an exact style number instead of publishing a generic size table. If you need a measurement we have not published, ask us and we will put a tape on a real garment for you.
